About us
Our story began long before we started catering events and offering taquizas. Back in 1987, our family opened its first restaurant—Villa Taqueria—on the 2800 block of Cooley Avenue in East Palo Alto, California. Founded by Leticia and Martha Velasquez, along with Martha’s son and Leticia’s husband, Javier, Villa Taqueria quickly became a neighborhood staple.
For over 22 years, Villa Taqueria proudly served the East Palo Alto community with authentic flavors from Apatzingán, Michoacán. We built lasting relationships and became a gathering place for locals who shared our passion for traditional Mexican food. Unfortunately, due to rising rent costs, we had to close our restaurant’s doors—but not our commitment to great food and community.
Today, we continue that legacy through our family-run catering and taquiza services, bringing the same authentic taste and hospitality to your events. Whether it’s a birthday, wedding, or community gathering, we’re honored to be a part of your celebration.
